Always a busy weekend

Be it weddings, portraits or news assignments, it seems as if weekends have been quite exciting for me this summer. While most friends are posting about photos of cottage life, I’m busy making pictures of daily life. Such the case this past weekend.

Things started off with a trip out to Carp for a portrait at the Diefenbunker (Canada’s Cold War Museum). I was photographing Jessie Stewart, the Diefenbunker’s artist in residency for 2015.¬†Jesse Stewart is an award-winning composer, improviser, percussionist, visual artist, instrument builder, researcher, writer, educator, and community activist dedicated to reimagining the spaces between artistic disciplines. Go check out the exhibit!

Sunday was all news. It was also hot outside. With two events outside (Pride Parade and National Capital Open Tournament) I thought I was going to pass out multiple times. Yes…sometimes this job is very glorious but other times not so much. It might have been the amount of gear I was lugging around, or the lack of protein in my body but thank god I made it out alive.

My last gig of the day was a treat. Not because of personal interest but yet because it was a first for me. Over the years I’ve been living and covering news in Ottawa, I’ve never photographed a concert at our biggest venue, Canadian Tire Centre. Motley Crue and Alice Cooper put on a great show. Though I was unable to sing along…it was fun to be there.

Time to check out some photo, hope you like!!
